The Amazon Mycorenewal Project was formed in 2006 and has been working in the Ecuadorean Amazon since 2007 investigating the use of mycoremediation (fungi used for remediation of contaminated soils)

In 2014 AMP started to design systems of Bioremediation using the combination of native bacteria, fungi and plants to clean up oil contaminated land and water.
The high levels of oil and and heavy metals in the area contributes to the highest rates of cancer in Ecuador and huge environmental impact to the wildlife.
